Real risks

- Credit / item trading scams — popular among teens in Rocket League economies. Block trades until your kid is mature enough to understand.
- Ranked mode pressure — same as other ranked games.
Parent recommendation
Rocket League is one of the healthier competitive games for young kids. Quick Chat + friends-only voice is a solid baseline. Easy yes for 8-12 with that configuration.
Common questions
Is Rocket League a good choice for a younger child?
It is one of the healthier competitive games available — rated Everyone, no violence, and an easy yes for ages 8–12 with Quick Chat and friends-only voice configured.
What is a Cabined Account?
Epic’s account type for under-13s. It limits chat to pre-made Quick Chat phrases and disables trading, which removes the two main risk surfaces in one step. Configure the rest under Epic Parental Controls › Rocket League.
Even Quick Chat seems to upset my child. Why?
Because the pre-made phrases get used sarcastically — “What a save!” is the well-known example, deployed to taunt teammates. If it bothers your child, muting chat entirely is a reasonable response rather than an overreaction.
Should I let my child trade items in Rocket League?
Not until they are old enough to recognise a scam. Credit and item trading is popular with teenagers and is where Rocket League’s scams concentrate. Trading is disabled by default on Cabined Accounts.
